How the #@%& do I renew my IHSA membership?

Ahh, the start of a new school year at UCSC. Wild-eyed freshman sporting snazzy ID lanyards zigzag through the redwoods in perpetual search for the elusive Classroom Unit 3 ("I swear it's what my schedule says!"). Wallets and waistlines shrink simultaneously as you spend the last of this month's food budget on a super-special-UCSC-only textbook that your professor insists you will fail miserably without, its weight slowing you down as you attempt to subtly avoid Greek recruiters and CalPIRG pledgers in your escape from the bookstore and out of Quarry Plaza. Sweat permeates every fiber of your new clothes as you conquer the hills and valleys of the campus in blazing fall quarter heat, wondering how the heck you got so out of shape (and how you forgot to pack sneakers. Again.). And oh, awesome, the team officers are in an email frenzy, sending you what now amounts to two - no, four - no, FIVE notes politely requesting that you "renew your membership RIGHT NOW!!1!1". As though you seriously remember how to do that.

It's OK. We're going to get through this.

Calm down, would you? IHSA membership setup can be a pain, but it's not all that confusing. Your friendly neighborhood Hunt Seat officers have created a set of step-by-step instructions (with pictures!) to remind you how it works.

First of all, things you will need:
  • Your IHSA account login information
  • A credit or debit card
Have you gathered your items? OK. Here goes:

1. Mosey on over to the IHSA website. Click "Login"in the top right corner of the page. (We're just going to assume you can figure this one out without a picture. Believe in yourself.)

2. Log into your IHSA account. If you're a returning member, you should already have a username and password. If you don't, this tutorial is not for you! We'll cover new member registration in another post.

3. Renroll yourself in IHSA. When you log in, you should come to your home page, with "IHSA News" in your main window. Off to the right, you should see a red box with a yellow title that reads "Things to Do: Reenroll Now."

Click the link and update your contact information, being sure to select the "Hunt Seat" membership type at the top of your application.

4. Submit your individual membership payment. Navigate back to "Rider Home." You should now see a new notification box that reads "Things to Do: Pay by Credit Card."

On the page it leads you to, you can fill in your card information to cover the $45 membership fee. Note that IHSA and USHJA memberships are now BOTH covered under this action; if you register/pay here, you're all set for the year! IHSA will confirm your payment via email upon officer approval.

Hooray, you did it! You're a star!
Now quit messing around and go do your work.

P.S. If you still have questions about membership or renewals, contact the UCSCET officers via email ASAP.

The slugs had a successful season ender with this past weekend's 2-day IDA show at UC Davis. Great performances and great fun made the show a perfect end the team's best season yet. Sarah Dennis' rides on both days earned her enough points to move out of Intro. She is now slated to compete in Lower Training next season.

In the year-end rider point standings for Region U, Susan Fredericks came in second place - a huge honor, and a huge accomplishment for our small but mighty Dressage team!
